Meet Dona Maher

Dona Maher has partnered with The James Library & Center for the Arts since 2008 as a music instructor and teaches and directs at the James six days a week. She also serves as the Music Director for The James Library and provides the vision, direction, and organization of its music programming.

Dona holds a Bachelor of Science in Piano from Towson State University, Maryland where she studied piano performance, piano pedagogy, and piano ensemble. She also holds a Master of Music in Piano Performance from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. Studied with Jane Tan, Konrad Wolff, and Wha Kyung Byun.

Dona has performed as soloist, chamber music pianist, accompanist, piano duo, and as a member of “The Five Piano Extraordinaire”, an ensemble performing works arranged specifically for them. Along with teaching privately and formerly as a member of piano faculties in both the Massachusetts and Baltimore/Washington DC areas for over 35 years, she has extensive vocal coaching and directing experience. Included in her traditional course of piano studies, is the opportunity for students to participate in the Royal Schools of Music Exams Grades 1-8.
