Join The Dona Maher Studio Chorus

The Studio Chorus is held in a warm and motivating atmosphere. It is a wonderful way to make new friends and share in the joy of choral singing!

About

Directed by Dona Maher, this is a vibrant group of young choral enthusiasts in Grades 3-8 who love choral singing, performing, and taking on challenging performance opportunities. Rehearsals are held at The James Library & Center for the Arts in Norwell. The group represents many South Shore communities including Norwell, Hanover, Hingham, Hull, Cohasset, Scituate, and Marshfield.

What to Expect

This group focuses on basic vocal skills, breathing, diction, singing in parts, and musical interpretation. Nurturing respect and camaraderie as a group are also emphasized. Special attention is placed on performance techniques, poise and stage presence. Rehearsals require each chorister’s full attention, a positive and energetic focus, and a desire to reach for one’s personal best within the group. Simple choreography is incorporated when appropriate.

Achievements

The outstanding achievements of this group includes 6 consecutive years of honors scores of distinction from The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music.

Many members of this Studio Chorus graduate to join Dona’s Studio A Capella for Grades 9-12 and enjoy combined choral performances throughout the year.

Dona’s positive attitude, hard work, and dedication are the reasons these kids love to sing...together!

Dona is strict and the children work hard, though they rise up to her expectations and often exceed and thrive as a result. The performances are overwhelmingly beautiful and professional, I was impressed with the highest level of music and song from the choristers.
